Groundbreaking!
September 3, 2015

We have reached the point in our contract negotiations for  general construction where we are in agreement on the conditions and details; we are confident that the contract signing will take place on September 15, 2015. We are also planning a ceremonial groundbreaking for that same afternoon of September 15 at 4 PM at the library, 210 Washington Street. Construction work, most likely starting with fencing/containment and signage and will commence at the library the very next day, September 16.
Everyone involved in the project in some way, -- the library staff, our patrons, the Library Board, the Friends and Foundation, the Capital Campaign Committee, our project architects RoehrSchmitt and Rothholz Weiner, the Brennan Company and their subcontractors, Public Works staff and the Mayor and City Council-- all look forward to groundbreaking with great anticipation. It feels like  we have been in the planning stage for quite a while, but it has only been a year since we first started fundraising. In the world of pubic building projects, that's a pretty fast track, and everyone connected with the project has been a part of moving this along. Congratulations to us all!
