Construction contract awarded
August 11, 2015
On August 4 City Council awarded the general contract for the Library Improvement Project to Brennan Company of Mankato, MN. All six alternates were approved to be included with the base bid. Alternates include upgrades to patio paving, upgrades to the flooring in the Commons and stairway, the inclusion of feature lighting elements, and millwork and shelving in the general contract rather than in the furniture contract. The total General Construction amount approved by Council is $2,399,500. We hope to set the first pre-construction meeting date with Brennan, our project architects from RoehrSchmitt Architecture, and the principle subcontractors as well as City representatives within the next three weeks. At this meeting we will set the date for groundbreaking. This should be a very happy event for everyone involved, including the many library supporters, City Council, Library Friends and Foundation and the Library Board.
