Next Phase, Construction Documents!
February 4, 2015
On February 3, the Northfield City Council unanimously approved our revised scope, budget and schedule, which allows us to begin the next phase of the Library Improvement project-- Construction Documents. The fundraising abilities of the Capital Campaign Committee, chaired by Hans Muessig to raise private donations from the Northfield community are truly awesome-- over $400,000 has been contributed in the last 5 months-- a phenomenal feat! CCC, you guys rock!
Our additional significant anonymous donation, as mentioned in an earlier post, is allowing us to to re-fund some of the building elements that were eliminated from our original scope, such as the expanded Commons, paving at the Division Terrace and paved access to the Carnegie Porch. We also will be able to fully fund our furnishings budget and create an additional conference space on the second floor. Staff, patrons, Friends and Board-- we are all very excited and grateful.
We continue to refine our plans for our temporary site at City Hall. Tentatively, our hours will be 9 AM-6 PM Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday; Tuesday 9 AM- 8 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM- 5 PM. We will be bringing around 9,600 of our most popular materials, including DVDs, Children's picture books, music and audio-books, as well as our most popular fiction and non-fiction. Summer Reading programming will happen from Booker the Bookmobile, which will be located on a regular schedule in 4 City Parks.
Folks, this is really going to happen! Thank you all for your continued support!
